Video: Lancey on Ellen

Here's the video of Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer's interview with Ellen yesterday, September 29, 2008. They dance a cha cha at the end. In my opinion, Lance looks kind of awkward but Lacey is on fire!

Katua Kiss?! & Oops, I didn't mean to do that!

Time for some random tour videos!

Yes, ladies and gents, it is true. Katee Shean and Joshua Allen did kiss in the beginning of their No Air routine in Anaheim, CA. The original thing Joshua did was kiss Katee's forehead, but not this time! They are so cute. (:

Here's a video:

And also, Chelsie Hightower accidentally kicked the suitcase off of the stage during her and Mark Kanemura's Bleeding Love routine. Thank god one of the staff ran over and picked it up and put it back on the stage before the end of the routine! FYI, totally wasn't meaning to make fun of anyone, in fact, I love Chelsie even more (if that's even possible) for doing that. :P

Video, fast forward to 0:40 if you like:

More random tour videos to come!

SYTYCDism Exclusive Interview with Jack Chambers

I (Trandrew) got the chance to sit down and talk with Jack Chambers, the winner of the first season of So You Think You Can Dance Australia Thursday, September 25, 2008 at my hometown's So You Think You Can Dance tour. Jack flew up to San Jose from Los Angeles after working with Mia Michaels on a solo specially choreographed for him. I was so confused when Courtney Galiano announced that Jack was in the house, and then I accidentally ran into him during intermission. I introduced myself and told him how I kept up with SYTYCDAU and he was so surprised to find someone who knew him.

While waiting for the dancers to come out in the Meet and Greet room, no one was paying attention to Jack, so I walked over and had a great conversation with him. Here's what I recollect:

I asked him if the Australians had any feelings toward Twitchington's Viennese Waltz and he definitely told me that there was a lot of controversy when that dance was released on America's SYTYCD -- with the same type of costumes, barefootedness, mood, music. He told me there was a few things that were reminiscent of SYTYCDAU but the waltz was definitely the worst.

He had just performed his Mia Michaels solo in Los Angeles and said the experience was phenomenal, although he did have nerves going into the session because it was a one on one workshop with Mia.

What made me giggle was when Jack told me how great of a SYTYCD fan I am. He said I really know my stuff, so that made me feel good. He said out of 8000 people, I was the only person who recognized him and actually knew how he danced and everything. His sister was also there with him and she was such a sweetheart too. They both dance amazingly. He said when going outside in Australia, so many people recognize him, but it was so refreshing to be able to slide by in the U.S.

I've always had this obsession with Australian accents, so I kept complimenting them. Jack's sister said she thinks it's quite ugly but I thought it was so awesome. Jack said Americans articulate every single word and that we finish our words.

I asked Jack and his sister if there were any standouts in the show, and he told me he enjoyed Twitch and Katee's door piece the most. As of individual dancers, he thought that they all stood out so it was hard to pick an individual favorite. However, I do vividly remember Jack saying, "Mark is extremely amazing. So entertaining." That should make the Markers cheer.

Jack also told me the tour in Australia went very well, although it wasn't like fifty-something tour stops like ours. He thought it was really amazing attending a venue with such energy from the fans, especially since he went to the San Jose stop, which had the biggest and craziest fanaticism for hometown girl Katee Shean.

Jack boarded a plane to New York yesterday and plans to stay there attending and teaching workshops for 3 weeks. He said it's quite amazing how people pay him to dance now, as opposed to in Australia. It's a well known fact that Jack Chambers wants to make it big in Broadway, so we're all crossing our fingers for him. He sings and acts as well -- triple threat?!

UPDATED Spoilers and Speculation: So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour 2008

We're going to be keeping this post at the top of the blog because we think as information comes in, updates will be needed!

Click on View Full Post for details.
THE TOUR STARTS TODAY! New spoilers have been added even though the event is today. SYTYCDism will have the full set list by the end of the show and hopefully a half-set list during intermission.

Confirmed:
Chelsie Hightower (S4) will be performing three dances, however she will only pair Mark Kanemura (S4) in one of them.
9/20: Joshua Allen (S4) will be in at least three paired dances, including the Russian Trepak dance with Twitch Boss (S4), Hometown Glory with Katee Shean (S4), and also No Air with Katee.

If I were to put bets, I would say she will be doing her Argentine Tango with Joshua Allen (S4), Hip-Hop with Mark Kanemura (S4), and Contemporary with Gev Manoukian (S4).

Edit 9/5: Actually I think that the Gevsie dance will be the jive.
Edit 9/6: We can expect to see The Garden with Mark Kanemura and Courtney Galiano. We're also pretty certain that the Marksie routine is Bleeding Love. Speculation about how many Katua dances will appear on tour have started, and I think most of us can say there will be more than one, possibly even three. Katie (ripslip on IDF) made a good point that the Bollywood group dance would probably be on the line up, so we can cross off the Katua Bollywood off the list. This leads to my speculation that we will possibly see Mia's Hometown Glory, Tony Meredith's Samba, and Wade Robson's Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. In my opinion, they can't possibly ignore Wade's only [partnered] piece of the season.
Edit 9/20: Confirmed 2 Katua dances and the Russian trepak dance.

Travis Wall (S2) had a wonderful 21st birthday ... which included Kameron Bink and Neil Haskell from season 3!

Oh, of course Ivan Koumaev (S2) and season one champion Nick Lazzarini were there.

And for those wondering where season three hunk Danny Tidwell has been! Well he was also spotted at the scene!

More pictures are available at Travis's Facebook. Add him if you want to see them!

Outstanding Dancers from SYTYCDCA

Here are some of my favourite dancers so far!

Katie Lee is a female popper that is INSANE! Love her!

Jérémy Tran-Huu, a b-boy/hip-hop dancer. I thought he was really original, and cute! Loved his routine. Not to mention that song, Justice is crazy!

Lara Smythe, her tricks are amazing. Really controlled and powerful. I agree with Jean Marc though, some of the movements were really not suitable for the routine. Still great!

Nicolas Archambault is a contemporary-ish dancer. I really liked his routine. Probably one of my fav. contemporary male dancers so far. He reminds me of Kameron Bink (s3).

Enjoy! (:

Presenting...BOYLICIOUS!

Just saw this on YouTube and thought this was hilarious, and that the choreo was great. Boylicious is a group of 5 guys, including Blake McGrath (s1) and previous SYTYCD judge and choreographer Brian Friedman. Please bring Brian back! I miss seeing him on the judging panel, and I miss his curly hair. ): Anyways, Blake was one of the co-choreographers for this combo they did to Girlicious' song "Stupid Sh*t." They are ferosh, enjoy!

So You Think You Can Dance: President's Version

MadTV's spoof of SYTYCD, Barack Obama, and John McCain. This is brilliant and HILARIOUS! The judges sounded exactly like Mia, Mary and Nigel. Just wanted to share this with everyone, since it pretty much made my day!

The Top 10 and Tour Alternates Get Interviewed

Finally some interviews while the season 4 top 10 + alternates are rehearsing for tour! The LA Times interview all of the dancers and ask them what they expect from the tour, and a couple of other things. There are a couple of mistakes in the video labels. Mark is interviewed with Jessica, not Thayne, and Twitch is interviewed with Chelsie Hightower, not Chelsea Traille. My favourite was Katee and Comfort's interview, they are hilarious.

Watch all of the interviews here!

Note: Don't mind the tags. Had to shorten some of the names so I could fit all 13 dancers in there. :P

IV Real Tattoos?

Note: This is unconfirmed by Andrew and I, it is from another site. It's your decision if you want to believe this or not.

The top 10 of SYTYCD Season 4 wanted to show how close they were, so why not all get matching tattoos? They all decided to get the "IV Real" phrase tattooed. This is not confirmed, but I will be sure to do some more research on this. Quite frankly, I find it very surprising, and I'm sure many of you do as well. If I don't find out if this is actually true before my tour stop, (WHICH IS COMING UP!) I will ask when I go to my tour stop.

EDIT: TV Guide had an article stating that "almost all of [the dancers]" got inked. Read the article here.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada: Toronto Audition Videos

SYTYCDFANS.com has provided a page with the Toronto auditions from the first episode of So You Think You Can Dance Canada!

Link: SYTYCDFANS.com

Scott MacDonald from Brantford, Ontario was a standout for me. He had a lot of tricks but still kept the dancing alive. He also has very nice dancer feet.

Comfort and Chris Brown have a dance off

Comfort Fedoke (s4) is featured in Ludacris' new music video for his song, "What Them Girls Like." She appears at around...2:51-ish and after, so you can fast forward to that time. Lookin' good, Comfort! (:

Glitter-Vision, a movmnt digital short filmed by iVAN

iVAN, otherwise known as Ivan Koumaev (S2), had quite the summer video-recording our lovely SYTYCD contestants, however movmnt magazine just released a video specifically featuring Neil Haskell (S3).

The summer of 2008 sees the dawn of a new species, The Glitter... aka... Neil Haskell, discovered by Ivan Koumaev while on duty reporting for movmnt magazine.

We're going to release a special subscription offer for SYTYCDism readers within the next week or two. In the meantime, join the movmnt network at www.movmnt.net!
