Ballroom Unleashed featuring Travis, Sabra, & Twitch

Dance Times Square, the studio owned by SYTYCD choreographers Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin, will be presenting their showcase entitled "Ballroom Unleashed: An Evening of Dance" on May 11th at the Danny Kaye Playhouse in New York City. The event benefits Angel on a Leash, which sponsors rehabilitative dogs. There will be performances from SYTYCD alum Pasha Kovalev(s3) & Anya Garnis(s3), Sabra Johnson(s3), Travis Wall(s2), and Twitch Boss(s4). Dance lovers should also be excited to see a performance from Parsons Dance and guest appearances by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Desmond Richardson, and many other notable figures.

Dancing to Bon Iver's Woods, here is Kameron Bink (S3). This was performed a little over a month ago. Seems as though Kameron's maturity of dance and movement has significantly improved since SYTYCD. The video is kind of dark, but overall I thought it was beautifully performed.

Ty & Chelsie: ET Tonight Interview



Ty Murray and his professional partner Chelsie Hightower finished in next to last place on last week’s “Dancing with the Stars,” so they are busy rehearsing this week’s quickstep routine — but not too busy to take a break to talk to ET.

“Chelsie is like a drill sergeant,” says Ty, who adds he is hoping to not to mess up this week.

Ty, a rodeo athlete famous for riding bulls, also tells ET that he has had to get his pants re-fitted for this week’s performance, since he has lost so much weight on the “Dancing with the Stars” diet: long hours of strenuous rehearsal.

And even though she had to hang up her dancing shoes as a result of a fractured tibia in both legs, his wife Jewel is being supportive.

“Dancing with the Stars” airs tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Apparently, S3's Lacey Schwimmer's Dancing With The Stars partner, Steve-O, has pulled sciatic nerves in his back this week during salsa rehearsals. Having to drop out remains a consideration, though as of right now, the show will go on.

Courtney Galiano interviewed in April issue of Dance Spirit

I just got my Dance Spirit in the mail and Courtney Galiano (S4) was interviewed! Due to copyright concerns I can't post the whole thing but I'll sum it up!

Courtney shares she would love to work with Celine Dion, Madonna, Britney Spears, Chris Brown (LOL I hope this interview was old), and Justin Timberlake. She would drop everything to go see Celine Dion because she has incredible dancers. Courtney said she can't live without the people she loves and says So You Think You Can Dance is the must-see TV Show. L-o-l. She also loves Law and Order: SVU, King of Queens, and Everybody Loves Raymond. Her favorite dessert is angel food cake with some cool whip and strawberries. And if she were to play anyone in a movie, Courtney says she would love to be Rachel McAdams in The Notebook because "every girl wants to live a love story like that."

Donyelle Jones in "The Question", an indie rock ballet

s2's Donyelle Jones will be playing the role of the high priestess in JT Horenstein's "The Question", an indie rock ballet. The production will be performed at The Ricardo Montalban in Los Angeles, California. There will be six shows: March 9, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19 @ 8pm.

"'The Question' is a full-length story-driven theatre piece entirely danced to a progressive, independent rock score. This gripping story is based upon the author’s experiences while sitting on a Jury for a first degree murder trial; certain questions came to mind: 'What really happened on the night leading up to the murder? Who else could have been involved? What complexities did the accused really endure on that fate-changing evening? And how much has this experience changed so many people’s lives?' After this particular Forman’s service was fulfilled, the U.S. Justice system took on an entirely different gravity.

In 'The Question', an ensemble of 20 relives this dramatic tale, masterfully revealing all evidence for the truth to finally be known: bodies and music being the only devices on which to rely."

All the proceeds are going to the dance fund at the Edge Performing Arts.
