I think I should remind everyone that Fox is airing a "Best of SYTYCD" episode on Wednesday, Sept 2nd at 8/7c.
From TV.com:
Top Performances from the first five seasons of So You Think You Can Dance are featured in this special episode. Routines from Emmy Award Winning choreographers Mia Michaels and Wade Robson will be included.
These are my predictions assuming each season gets 3 dances to be evenly fair (something SYTYCD isn't really known to be):
Season 1: Melody/Nick Disco or All That Jazz Destini/Jamile Shake Blake Heaven w/ Melody or Right Here Waiting w/ Ashle
Season 2: Travis/Heidi Calling You Allison/Ivan Why Heidi/Benji Black Mambo or Travis/Benji Hip Hop
Season 3: Jaimie/Hok Hummingbird and Flower Lacey/Kameron Dancing or Lacey/Neil Time Danny/Lacey Samba or Sabra/Neil Sweet Dreams
Season 4: Mark/Chelsie Bleeding Love Will/Jessica Alone or Katee/Will Pas De Deux Katee/Joshua Bollywood
Season 5: Jeanine/Jason If It Kills Me Kayla/Kupono Gravity Janette/Brandon Ruby Blue or Libertango
Group Dance (for kicks): Ramalama Bang Bang
What are your predictions? I wonder how many I'll get right. :-)
Check out S4's Jessica King in this commercial for The Cleaner on A&E which aired last Tuesday here Unfortunately, it's a Facebook video, so you may need a Facebook account to view it.
We're now taking questions for season one winner Nick Lazzarini!
We know a lot of people don't like him, but did you watch him or know anything about him? This interview is kind of supposed to straighten things out with the public's opinion on Nick and who he really is because I've met him and he's adorable and genuine. So please, submit questions! If you watched The Baub Show with Travis and Nick, you can tell Nick doesn't hold back with his opinions. He answers everything truthfully and doesn't give you some BS diplomatic answer. Hehe, so ask whatever you want!
Okay. Seriously? You guys have to check out this amazing video starring S3's Hok Konishi and S5's Phillip Chbeeb (as well as Moon). It's an amazing music video they made about frustration with a 9-5 job. All apparently filmed in just three days.
(If you watch nothing else, watch the tutting section. Your jaw will drop.)

Dance Spirit Magazine caught up with s5's Jason Glover, who is currently in the midst of tour preparation. He discusses his favorite choreographer that he worked with on the show, his future plans, & his infamous kisses! Here's an excerpt...
Dance Spirit: Who was your favorite choreographer to work with? Jason Glover: All the choreographers were really great with me. Jean Marc was funny and brilliant. Tony and Melanie were lively and charismatic. And Travis Wall gave me new life in the show. To dance a contemporary piece like that was a once in a lifetime opportunity. He understands dancers in a way that other choreographers don’t, because he still is a dancer and was once a contestant. I’ll be honest with you—we didn’t rehearsal that routine once during our free time. We just went through it in our heads.

It’s no secret that Jason Glover was one of our favorite contestants on “So You Think You Can Dance” season 5—just read our blogs! As he gets ready for the tour, we got him to open about working with Travis, his dream job and, of course, those steamy onstage kisses with Jeanine and Caitlin!
DS: What was it like to work with Jeanine? JS: Man, I had never worked with anyone that amazing. I'm going to get cheesy on you—it was made to be and meant to happen. My gosh, the girl is brilliant, beautiful and a ridiculous dancer. We have the same fire, so it was easy for me to feed off her. The fire/passion/lust you saw onstage was real. After we were done, it blew my mind to see the whole studio (audience and judges) standing and clapping. I went backstage and held her tight for fifteen minutes and thanked her for giving me that. Almost every week I was in the bottom three. And finally, it was like this is what everyone gets to feel—this is what you feel, Brandon and Janette!
DS: So about that steamy kiss…? JS: The kiss was not planned in the choreography. So now the question on everyone’s minds, is are we dating? The answer is no. I met Jeanine during Vegas week, and we clicked right away. She’s like family to me. What they don’t show you on TV is that, like Jeanine, I’m silly and I’m always cracking jokes. We couldn’t date—we’re too much of the same person. I'm sure by now she has a million and one guys eyeing her. I love her but I am not in love with her.
DS: What about kissing Caitlin at the end of Bollywood? Was that planned? JS: Yes. Nakul planned that for us. It’s a funny story, when we were in rehearsal he told us to kiss, but we made out! He said, “No, no you cant do that onstage. Kiss for one second and then pull away.” He told Caitlin to conceal the kiss with her hand. I was afraid of how it was going to look on TV, but it actually looked good.
DS: What was your fave piece to watch? JS: Definitely the Russian routine [laughs], because it was so fun [laughs], and we all joke about it. The first day that they leaned it, Jeanine burst through the apartment door and said, “You guys will never guess what is going on in my number. The dance is ridiculous.” “Ridiculously hard?” we asked. Then she demonstrated the part where they hold hands, and it looks like they’re in Disney’s “It’s a Small World.” But she was still got into it when she performed. Philarina (Phil) was great, too. I call him that because he isn’t a technical dancer. I make fun of him for not knowing any ballet moves.
DS: What is your dream job? JS: I’m an opportunist and will take anything that comes my way. I got a taste of being in front of the camera, and I liked it. Being a movie star would be amazing! But most of all, I’m young and have a body that’s holding up so I wanted to take advantage of it and be a dancer right now. I would eventually like to get into choreography.
DS: So you want to be the next Travis? JS: [laughs] You never know.
It's season nine on Dancing with the Stars and the paparazzi had their first reunion of Chelsie Hightower (S4). Chelsie will be dancing with professional snowboarder Louie Vito this season, and he seems like a sweet kid with a great open-minded personality. She also explains her silhouette on the FAME billboard.
Seems like Broadway is a new route for the SYTYCD afterlife with Pasha/Anya on Burn the Floor and Danny Tidwell on Memphis. Now we can add Will Wingfield (S4) to the list, as he joins the Broadway musical In The Heights!
Will Wingfield, a contestant on FOX-TV's So You Think You Can Dance, will take over the role of Graffiti Pete in the Broadway musical In the Heights, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, beginning on August 26. He replaces Seth Stewart in the role.
The show is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, In the Heights is about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan, and focuses on the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition. In The Heights is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The principal cast currently also features Andrea Burns, Janet Dacal, Robin De Jesús, Mandy Gonzalez, Marcy Harriell, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Javier Muñoz, and Rick Negrón. The ensemble includes Tony Chiroldes, Dwayne Clark, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Afra Hines, Marcus Paul James, Nina Lafarga, Doreen Montalvo, Eliseo Román, Gabrielle Ruiz, Luis Salgado, Kevin Santos, Michael Balderrama, Blanca Camacho, Stephanie Klemons, José-Luis Lopez, Antuan Raimone, Alejandra Reyes, and Jon Rua.

I do think some may find this video offensive, but I found it too hilarious to not post up. Here's a fan-created video of Hitler's reaction to finding out about Phillip Chbeeb's elimination complete with English subtitles. Try not to laugh at the great SYTYCD interpretation of the situation.
Disclaimer: If you're easily offended, please do not watch, and if you do, totally not our faults!
SYTYCDism reader Angie shows off her spankin' new SYTYCDism tee! She loves it and says the quality is great too. :) Just sayin'!

We've been having some requests for some montages to be posted, so, here is one of my favorites! A montage of season 5 winner, Jeanine Mason's funniest moments on the show. Enjoy!
In this interview, Nigel Lythgoe speaks about how people complain about the Top 20 not getting equal airtime before the first week of competition. Since the video source is Hulu, our non-American readers won't be able to view the video, but I typed out the gist of what he said for that particular notion.
"Another change I'd like to make is introducing that Top 20. Because again we get so many complaints with both this and Idol, that they've seen certain members of the Top 20 but they haven't seen them all. They don't know who they are. I would love to do a Top 20 show where they're not in competition. They're just showing us what their style is and how good they are and how deserving they are of being in the Top 20, and then start the competition a week later."
From what I heard, the revealing of the Top 20 will definitely be different for season six, so it's highly probable that we will be getting a dedicated Top 20 episode. Thank you Skyy for the heads up!
Where in the world is Carmen San DiegoDan Karaty!? His absence on SYTYCD season five was a mystery but in this video, he talks about where he is now and how much he loves judging for SYTYCD.

Names of the celebrities and pro dancers for any upcoming season of 'Dancing With the Stars' are guarded like gold at Fort Knox. However, the folks at ABC may have tipped their hand that hoofer Chelsie Hightower will indeed be back for season 9 of the reality competition. How'd they do that? The network invited Hightower to mingle with the press at the ABC summer TV Critics party in Pasadena, Calif. The official announcement about the upcoming cast will be made on Monday, Aug. 17, on 'Good Morning America.'
AOL TV caught up with Hightower to get the scoop on what she's been up to since taking rodeo star Ty Murray to season 8's final four. -- By Mike Maloney
Your presence here is a good sign that ABC is inviting you back for next season, yes? It is a good sign! [But] I really still don't know. I'm crossing my fingers that I will be back.
What did you do during the hiatus? I've taken three vacations. I think I've been home just two days this month. I've been crazy traveling and working, but it's been fun.
Do you have a dream celebrity that you hope 'Dancing' producers will one day pair you with? No. I don't think so. The producers do an amazing job pairing us. They take a lot into consideration -- the personalities of everyone involved, who'd be compatible. I trust them 100 percent.
When do you find out the new roster of stars? We find out exactly when [the public] does.
You've been compared to two-time 'Dancing With the Stars' winner Julianne Hough, both for your looks and great teaching skills. Do you see the similarities? When I'm out in public, people will look at me and say, "Oh, my gosh! You've been my favorite for five years!" They'll go on and on. I'll say, "Thank you," but in my head I'll be thinking, "This person probably thinks I'm Julianne." It happens a lot. I don't mind it because I think she's such a great person and a great dancer. If I'm going to be mistaken for anyone, I'm glad it's Julianne!
SYTYCD choreographer Wade Robson was recently chosen to choreograph the West Side Story-inspired promos for the MTV Video Music Awards, which are set to air on September 13th. In this video, you can see clips from rehearsal. Keep an eye out for s2's Travis Wall & Ivan Koumaev. Wade also shares his thoughts on the late Michael Jackson.
In this first promo featuring Cobra Starship & Leighton Meester, you can also see Ivan Koumaev.

8/13 EDIT: Travis just announced that the stage at the Chicago venue for Jason Mraz's concert was too small. They are arranging another tour date for Jason and Jeanine to perform!
Wow! Look who is a fan of Travis Wall (s2)'s contemporary piece that he choreograped for season 5 winner Jeanine Mason and Jason Glover (s5)!
------------------------------------------------
Mraz tells Rolling Stone he was “absolutely moved” by the clip, which his parents alerted him about after they caught it on TV — so much so that he’s trying to get the pair to perform during the Chicago stop of his tour next week, where he’ll be filming a live DVD. “I woke up in bed the other night going, ‘I have to get that couple to dance!’ ” Mraz says, revealing dance is “another little guilty pleasure” of his. “I really long to be a great dancer. Whoever I choose to be my one true love has to be a great dancer. What a great way to build a relationship with someone — going to dance classes every so often and really improve your partnership.”
No word yet on if scheduling will allow the performance, but Mraz’s DVD is slated to hit stores this November.

For Americans who've been asking SYTYCDISM how they can watch SYTYCD Canada, my only answer right now is to wait for clips to show up online because they will! They just usually end up being taken down pretty quick too. lol
We've been contacted a lot about some apparel, so SYTYCDism has decided to launch it's own little store for designs that pop into our heads every so often! In preparation for the tour, we decided to design a shirt for SYTYCDism readers and fans to buy, so what was more appropriate than to make a sure out of season five's motto, "5 ALIVE!" The "5" is made up of all of season five's Top 20 dancers descending from the winner (Jeanine) down. The design will be printed on a white t-shirt, making it very easy for fans to get the shirts autographed by the dancers after the show. We tried to keep the design simple to keep the prices down because we all know we're in a recession, offering fans another option to the $35+ official tour shirts.
The men's tees are printed on American Apparel shirts and are priced at $20.95 before shipping, and girls who want a more lady-like fit can purchase a ladies version for $21.95. Only the mens shirts are printed on American Apparel.
So we hope you buy one, especially if you like hearing people say "Oh my gosh! Where did you get that shirt?!" at the SYTYCD tour. =)
Check out this season 5 montage set to Kevin Rudolf's Welcome To The World! Thought it was really well done. Short and sweet as they say. For those of you who are out of the loop, "5 Alive" was season 5's take on "IV REAL"! Don't worry, I didn't know what that hand signal meant until today either!
Check out S1's Ryan Conferido and S3's Dominic Sandoval and Hok Konishi in Hawaii with their crew, Quest. The video is all kinds of awesome with candid moments, lots of personality, and of course, dancing:
Just found this amazing article off of TV Guide's website. She is such a strong, talented, beautiful woman. Here is a snippet of the article:
-----------------------------------------------
If Jeanine Mason wins the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance, the victory will be all the more remarkable because of a physical problem she’s overcome. What the audience doesn’t know – and what she’s never discussed on the air – is that she’s had two surgeries and radiation treatment over the past year and a half.
Mason, 18, says the trouble started in her junior year in high school when she suddenly couldn’t straighten her left elbow. “I was lifting one of the little girls one day, and I noticed I couldn’t straighten it,” she says. “We went through six months of trying to figure out what was wrong.”
